06:32 am - what is sleep?
So here I am at 6:32am wide awake and typing away. I can't sleep. Sasha woke me up around 6am because she had to go to the bathroom, so I took her outside, then just couldn't fall back asleep.

Work is going well...lots going on. I have my final round of interviews today for Jason's position, so that will take a load of stress off me. Been working alot to cover his hours and I'm tired already!

Money is tight lately which sucks. I get paid from my old job today...well we will see if he actually gives me my commission check today. Lord knows he wouldn't give me a dime of my commission when I worked full time for him, so know that I am with him part time, we shall see.

I was hoping to find a part time job in the evenings, but being the manager of a building and having staff that sometimes calls out at the last minute, makes me question if I could handle something else, with all the extra time I put in at my building. Maybe if I learned how to sell stuff on ebay, that could bring in some extra money. Anyone have ideas on how to make extra money?

Nothing else new...hope everyone else is doing well.

07:55 am - Damn South Florida drivers!
I so hate the drivers down here! They drive me BANANAS!

I was heading to the community center from my building going north on Federal Highway heading north. As soon as you cross over Atlantic Avenue, they put white columns up in the far left lane, so you can't leave the lane because it makes a left turn.

I got in that lane...I always go slow, because there is a hidden driveway and cars can't see us, so they creep out and I don't want to hit them..so I was looking to the left and then out of my right eye I see an SUV realize that he wanted to turn into the driveway (the columns in front of the driveway are wider for the cars leaving that parking lot to get out onto Federal Highway only. Well the SUV started to turn left! RIGHT INTO ME! I jerked the car to the left to avoid him and ended up on the curb and almost into a tree!

There was another car behind me and he had to swerve to avoid hitting me. LUCKILY no one hit each other, but I was SCARED and SHAKING! My heart was pounding so fast! I put my drivers side window down and looked at the driver..."WHAT THE HELL?" He was 150% wrong what he did and had I stayed and called the cops, he would have gotten a ticket.

After a few minutes of giving the driver a piece of my mind, I continued to my destination. Once I turned the corner, I had to pull over because I was shaking so bad and I was breathing heavy. I got out to get some air. The driver who was behind me, he got out of his car and came over to see if I was alright. He reassured me that the driver of the SUV was 150% wrong and that I was lucky to have seen him and got out of the way.

I am also damn lucky there was no one walking on the sidewalk at the time I went up on the curb!

Whew...crazy florida drivers.

08:58 pm - I'm BBBAAAACCCKK
Wow...5 months on sabatical and I'm back now.

Hello livejournal world. Did you miss me?

Well...what's new with me? I started a new job a few weeks ago. I am back in parks & recreation, this time with the City of Delray Beach. I run their teen center. I started working there 4 years ago part time, but left after 5 months when I was offered the director's position with the City of Boca Raton teen center.

I love it! Working with teens can be challenging, yet so rewarding at the same time.

Unfortunately, one of my employees passed away last week. He was 26. He had a seizure in the water while surfing. Over 500 people attended his funeral. Both his parents work for the city, so the entire city was basically there! He was well loved. So I was busy working my hours and his hours, plus comforting my staff and the teens!

Garrett and I are still together...yep, can't seem to get rid of him! He is finally graduating in December! YIPPY!

I was hoping to start house hunting in January, but with me starting the new job and Garrett soon to be looking for a new job...we will just have to rent one more year.

No ring yet...maybe I will get a nice xmas present!

10:47 am - Canada/Ice Hotel - final conclusions
Well, this post would have been "Canada - Day 5"!!! Yep, our flight yesterday morning was delayed almost 5 hours due to a heavy snow/ice storm. We were suppose to take off at 6:35am...but by 9am we were still on the runway, having our wheels de-iced. Why? They FROZE...TWICE. Flights left and right were being cancelled..then they announced that we weren't actually cancelled, but were going to head back to the gate and let us deplane until they figure out when we can leave. The weather wasn't changing anytime soon, so the earliest we would get out would be 2pm. If we wanted to cancel our flight and switch to tommorrow, they were allowing that free of charge. We definetely did not want to sit in the airport for another 5 hours, when we've already been there 5 hours, so we decided to switch our flight to Thursday. We already missed our connection in Newark anyway. We called our hotel in Montreal and had our reservation re-instated and then we called our bosses to inform them that we would not be reporting to work..and that's it. An extra day of vacation!! WAHOO!

We started walking back towards our gate to see how to pick up our luggage, when one of the gate attendants waved us down...seems they were looking for us. Turns out the flight has been re-instated and they were boarding ASAP. We made the decision to continue home, since they already had our luggage and we were right there. Damn, so much for an extra day off. They booked us on a 3pm flight from Newark to West Palm Beach. We were scheduled to land in New Jersey at noon.

We boarded the flight and about 45 minutes of de-icing the plane and wheels, we were in the air. We ended up landing in Newark at 12:39pm...same time we were suppose to land in West Palm Beach. I was actually scared during the take-off with all the wind and snow. We had some lunch and wasted time before we boarded at 2:40pm. The flight was alright....

We finally arrived in West Palm Beach at 6:10pm. I was worried that our luggage wouldn't make it, but it did.

It feels good to be back home...its warm here, but it was nice to put on snow pants and a ski jacket for a change. I have to be honest. I missed the snow, but not the slush. haha

Since Julia and I already called out for today...we are both staying home and taking it easy. 15 hours either at the airport or in the air is EXHAUSTING.

I will be getting the pictures later today, so they will be posted this weekend.

Overall...an absolute amazing experience that was truly once-in-a-lifetime.

10:27 pm - Canada - Day 4 (final day)
Bonsoir. Comment ca va? Je sais bien.

Well as this will be the last email for this trip and I thought (since you followed along so nicely) that you might like to know how we ended things.

We drove to Montreal this morning. I-40 (I think its an interstate) is about as desolate as the Florida turnpike, nothing to see but fields of white and dead trees. The drive took longer than I expected... even doing 85. Once in town we checked into the "lovely" travelodge (it really isn't a bad hotel, the rooms are clean, the beds big enough to sprawl out in and the front desk staff helpful..and English speaking) put our stuff down and hit the streets.

Julia had two things on her list to see, me...just one. We started out at Basilica Notre-Dame de Montreal. The Basilica Notre-Dame was founded in 1642 and it is a Gothic Cathedral. The church served as the principle church in the city of Montreal for over 100 years and was the largest church in North America until St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City was built. The altar was amazing (we have pictures). Most of the altar area is hand carved out of black mahogany and the pipe organ is one of the largest ever made with over 3300 pipes. We caught the English tour at 2pm and followed the guide around while he filled us in on the history.

Aside from the main church (which is apparently when Celine Dion got married. There is a beautiful chapel. The original chapel was all made of wood and burned down so when the new one was built it was modernized. It is bright! All light woods with a huge bronze relief that serves as the center piece on the altar that depicts the procession of life to the Holy Trinity. I thought it was interesting that it only cost $700 to get married in the Chapel. The price includes the priest, flowers and a singer! Destination wedding...what? haha...just kidding Garrett. GOTCHA!

After the churches we went hunting for the underground city. I have never seen an underground shopping arcade so large. This place was like 10 blocks by 4 blocks, full of shops and ALL underground. It was pretty neat too.

After the underground we headed out to the Casino. Yes, I said it. CASINO. The Casino de Montreal is very nice. Its 5 stories, clean, and smoke free. Its all laid out funky with slots on 2 floors, table on two floors and stuff spread in between. I finally won playing slots. We both put in $20 at our machines and I turned it into $93 and Julia won $121 Then Julia played Let It Ride and lost $80. She should have known that playing cards with 4 Hasidic Jews was a bad omen. Bastards!. In the end, I ended up walking out $53 up and Julia was $60 down.

We had dinner at an Italian Restaurant with ok food and bad service (Julia and I seem to have bad service no matter what restaurant we go to so...) and then head back to the hotel. Early flight in the morning, 6:30am, so I have end my Canadian blog so I can get to sleep before my 4am wake up call.

Bonsoir! Back to reality tommorrow.

-Danielle

Overall..I give it a 10....a fuckin 10!! (Quote from Varsity Blues)

08:31 pm - Ice Hotel - Day 2 - Part II
Bonsoir. Well its 8:33pm, and Julia and I are mad tired. We had a fun day. We met at L'Adventure for our dog sledding exursion. About 2km up the road was the campus for the dogs. There were about 20 people and 4 people were assigned to each tour guide. We had an english couple with us. Simone (pronounced - SIM-OWN) was the name of our tour guide. He has over 5 years experienced and owns 6 of the 265 dogs that are on site.

We had a quick lesson on how to operate the sled. Seems each pair is in charge of their own sled with 6 dogs while the tour guide leads the trail with his 7 dogs. Julia didn't want to operate, so I did. She got to sit in the sleigh with blanket and freeze her ass off and take pictures. The trail would last about 45 minutes. Mind you all, I have never operated a dog sled before, but I picked up quickly what I needed to get by. Simone warned us about sharp turns and how to shift the sleigh accordingly. About 20 minutes in, the dogs took a very sharp turn to the right and the sleigh went sharp and I lost my balance and fell off and I couldn't reach the brake in time, and the dogs continued on the trail with Julia in the sleigh!! ACK! Julia was told that if the driver fell off that she was to roll off and the trainer will stop the dogs. First fall. I was upset and felt terrible, but luckily we were both okay and the dogs were not hurt either. We continued..about another 10 minutes, the dogs make a sharp left and the sleigh tipped over, with JULIA IN IT! Second fall. We got back up and continued the trail. Not even 5 minutes later, Simone made a sharp turn and he tipped over his own sleigh!! I felt so good inside..it happens to the best. Handling the sleigh was not easy...it took a ton of upper body strength and my legs were steady on two wooden poles ready to brake when neccessary. The wind coming at you, doesn't help and being 32 degrees also makes matters worse. I had to constantly watch the dogs to make sure they didn't go to the bathroom or start fighting with each other or get tangled. I'm glad Julia still had trust in me after I almost killed her...TWICE. After we arrived back at camp, we got to play and THANK our dogs and take pictures. Then we met with some of the other dogs and went inside for hot cocoa, and then saw the young huskies in training. Freakin precious.

Overall, an absolute amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience. I am SO glad I got to experience it and that I made it back safe and sound. Julia too. hehe.

After we got back to our room, we rested for 30 minutes, then got in the car for the drive to Downtown Quebec City to grab dinner. We got a little lost, but we got back on track.

We found a parking spot and did some walking and came accross a ton of restaurants with menus we couldn't read, but got the jist of it. We ended up going to to a sports bar for a drink and got friendly with the hot bartender/owner. Luckily he spoke some broken english. Then we moved on to a pizzeria with another hot waiter who spoke with a PERFECT ENGLISH ACCENT, yet was from Quebec. He went to college at Cornell. 2 hot guys in one night! WAHOO!

So, that brings us to now....we head out tommorrow for Montreal and we are spending the day there and then fly out early Wednesday morning.

12:36 pm - Ice Hotel - Day 2 - Part I
Bonour. Je sais tres bien. Well, I'm sure you are all wondering about our night in the Hotel Le Glace.

So yesterday's excursion didn't really go as planned. We did do a lot of walking around but we didn't go snowshoeing. Its hard to really have a plan when you're homeless. We had to check out of our room by noon and didn't have orientation for our night in the ice hotel until 5pm so basically had to keep moving or freeze in place. Julia had major sock issues throughout the day, so most of it was spent with her changing her socks and baking in front of the fireplace. We basically wasted the day but we were psyched for out 5pm mandatory orientation.

The girl leading our orientation, Stephanie, while extremely funny in her delivery of information, did not instill me with a whole lot of confidence. She sits down on this big box, smiles, takes the sleeping bag out of its bag and basically goes "this is your sleeping bag, theres a liner in your pillow so don't lose the pillow. When you get in for the night make sure to change your socks and put your old socks in your shoes. Any questions?" I'm thinking "yeah, how the hell am I going to zip thing up and make sure no cold air gets in." I honestly wasn't too worried about the overnight part, after all this is what we were here for so we were staying no matter what!

After orientation and an uneventful dinner, we came back to the ice hotel and went to the N'Ice bar for our complimentary drink. I had a Little Rudolph (vodka, midori, strawberry-kiwi juice) and Julia ordered something call Sea of Ice. Think Robatussin and you know what drink hers tasted like. Our drinks WERE served in glasses made of ice and the drinks were only $5.25 if you held on to your glass throughout the night. The well where the alcohol goes got larger as the night progressed so $5.25 might have been a deal at 12:30am. We were fortunate to meet up with some really fun people in the bar...people who held the same belief we did that if we were drunk enough we'd just pass out and not have to worry about the cold. We closed the bar at 12:45am and after a group slide (I might have forgotten to mention that there is a slide made of ice inside the hotel . Very Cool!) we all went our seperate ways to prepare for bed. The ice slide was definetely a hugehighlight of the hotel. TONS of fun!

We get to Chamber 27 and our sleeping bags are waiting for us. We both took a deep breath and unrolled all of our bedding. It was like watching a sack race where everyone has had a bit too much to drink. We stripped off the boots and old socks, put our jackets underneath us and crawled in to the liner (while standing on the bed like kids) then zipped into the sleeping bags. Julia did a FANTASITC job of getting me snugged in because I feel alseep WAY sooner than she did. I slept on a off throughout the night tossing to find a comfortable position while being trapped in a cocoon. Of course, what I didn't want to happen, happened. I had to go to the bathroom. Lucikly, it was early morning, so it was light out. I unzipped my bag and quickly got my boots and fleece on a just ran to find the spa. After a few wrong turns, I had to find a map. I went into the spa to find a freakin note in FRENCH basically saying the bathrooms are out of order, so I had to go on to the OPPOSITE end of the hotel to use the heated port-o-lets by the Chapel. It was an adventure, but after making back to the room and stripping off my boots and jacket, I was back in my cocoon for a few more hours of sleep. We didn't think we needed a wake up call, but a guy came to the room at 8:30am to wake us up and we were both surprised we slept as late as we did. There was a serious "WE MADE IT" high five once we were dressed and headed for breakfast and coffee.

It was an amazing experience and I am SO glad we did it. You guys don't know what you missed!

We are dog sledding today at 1pm and it is overcast, windy, and really cold today (-1).

12:23 am - Canada - Day 1.5
Bonsoir. Ca va? Well its 12:26am, and we just closed the bar down in the ice hotel. We met about 5 other young couples spending the night with us, so we all had a blast talking, dancing (stay warm) and DRINKING!

They had ice sculpting for the overnight guests at 10:30pm. One couple made an ice luge, which was awesome. Its like slide in the ice, that alcohol flows down and into ones mouth. haha.

Another couple made a shot glass out of their ice, and the hostess gave them a free shot in it! haha.

We got into the ice hotel around 8:30pm. Believe it or not, I was WARM in the ice hotel, but just around midnight, my feet started to feel cold, and my gloves around my fingers were all wet from holding my ice glass for the past hour. Everyone cleared out by 12:15am, to go to the spa and sauna, but Julia and I came to the pavilion to sit in front of the fire. The pavilion is just 200 feet from the ice hotel, where the showers, changing rooms and 24 hour service is for overnight guests only. A fireplace and coffee is there at your disposal..as well as this computer!

Julia and I were going to do the jacazzui and sauna, but then had a hard time departing with our clothes, so we 86ed the idea and came here instead.

Some of the other people staying with us are all from, Boston, Maryland, Toronto, Basil, Montreal and Vermont. Interesting.

The sleeping bag seems to be warm...there are 3 layers to the bag. I will take my snow pants off and sleep in my silks and other pants I have on. Everything you don't sleep in must be tucked inside your sleeping bag to keep warm.

Alright....will blog again...have to go sit by the fire to warm up before bed....

01:21 pm - Canada - Day 1
Bonour!! Tous tres bien. Julia and I are here! After a long journey yesterday..whew. The flight to Newark was fine...only 40% full, so we all got our own rows basically. The one hour flight to Montreal sucked. Too much turbulence for me, but I was a trooper. Customs was a breeze, and were done in 5 minutes. We exchanged currency and went to the Enterprise counter for our Chrysler Sebring and we got our map, music and camera reaady for the 3 hour drive to Quebec City.

The drive was alright...EVERYTHING is in french. I was told by the hotel when I called last week, that english was in captions underneath. Umm yeah no. For most of Montreal, yes, but the moment you drive outside the city..french everywhere. Luckily I did understand the basic language and was able to communicate with some locals when we got lost in Pont Rouge. I saw a recreatif centre, which I thought was recreation center...No..its a hockey arena. The lady behind the concession, understood "Hotel de Glace" and drew up a VERY good map with all french landmarks, and we were on our way.

We made it to the hotel at 5pm and did a quick look of the outside of the Ice Hotel and the gift shop, then went to the warm hotel to check in. Julia and I both assumed the hotel was one big hotel, but its a resort, with little villas, so we had to drive to our room, which was cute. WARM and cute. Dinner at the reort was booked, so we drove to the local village and found the first "restaurant" we could and stopped. It was a pub. Restro Pub. The place was packed and quite cozy. Our waitress Jessica was nice. We asked her if we could BUY the beer pints, since they have the name of the pub and the canadian beer logo we liked. She said no, but would look the other way if we wanted to take them. SWEET. So, Garrett, I have pint glass for you!

After the pub, we went to the Publix of Quebec City...IGA. We stocked up on some snacks and were on our way home. A quick shower and we both passed out around 10pm. We are party animals!

Today we had brie and melba toast for breakfast, got dressed and headed to the Ice Hotel for our information tour at noon. It was absolutely breath-taking. I can't wait to post the pictures. Overnight guests have a blue ticke, so we can go in and out of the hotel the entire trip without paying admission. Our room has one bed, so Julia and I will be keeping each warm tonight!!

We are going snowshoeing later and then head to a new restaurant for dinner.

10:05 am - I'M BACK!...
Holy crap...I totally forgot about LiveJournal.

Been off of it over a year..I'm so sorry guys. Did you all miss me?

So, what the hell has been going on with me? Well I'm no longer with the City of Boca Raton. I think some of you may know already, but I was laid off in August due to the state budget cuts. It sucked, but I was lucky enough to been offered a job within 48 hours. I am now the Marketing Director for a family entertainment company called All American Gaming, Inc. www.allamericangaming.com

I am the only full time employee of the company so far, so I have a lot of work on my plate. I actually hate my job. I hate my boss, and I have been interviewing to get out.

Garrett and I are still going strong. 4.5 years now...damn.

We bought a puppy back in May. A shiba inu named Sasha. She looks like a little fox. Once I refresh my memory on how to post pictures on here, I will show you all.

I hope everyone is well and I look forward to becoming a regular again on this.

06:37 am
Happy Birthday to me.

Went out last night with some of Garrett's friends from work, then got home around midnight. Garrett's 10 year high school reunion is this weekend, and I didn't want my birthday to keep him, so he went after he dropped me off. I didn't really want to go. I know he would just end up talking with everyone and leave me in a corner. He got home at 4:30am. He had a good time it seemed. After that I was up and still up. That sucks.

On top of that....Garrett and I are having problems and I don't see us lasting any longer. We're just hanging on and it seems like a waste of time. The passion is gone and I'm miserable.

I know its been awhile since I've posted...but I needed to vent it out. Thanks for listening.

10:32 am - you will all like this story!
Jason is a guy who was into me last year and we went bowling together and he was a wine junkie like me. We knew each other since grad school. He got us two tickets last Feb to the wine festival ($250 a ticket), but had to back out due to a business trip, so he was going to give me the tickets to go with Krissy. Which was VERY nice of him.
But he then turned on me, and said he would only give me the tickets if I slept with him, so I ended my friendship with him
That's the history of him. Now.....

I saw Jason last night when we were at the bowling alley. He is in a Saturday night league there. I was also there two Saturdays ago, I saw him there. So two weeks ago, I avoided him, for I didn't want to talk to him. But last night, the place was kind of dead, so it was hard to avoid him, especially if I would have to pass him to go to the bar or bathroom
so I approached him and said hello and was civil he looked at me and said "I'm sorry, do I know you?"

I looked at him and said, "Well of course you do, you were the one who was so desperate to sleep with me that you had to bribe me with wine tickets!" He paused and said, "I'm sorry, but you must have me mistaken for my brother."

So I responded, "oh so you have a brother?" (which is SO NOT TRUE)and he said yes,...I said, "oh you never told me you had a brother, let alone a twin brother." I continued to say, "Look Jason, I am okay with you playing games...I'm above that, so you just enjoy the rest of your evening..and I walked away.

Later on in the evening, my friend came over to me and said she overheard Jason talking about me to his friends and even said MY NAME!

What a bastard. He thought he got the best of me...HA.

08:52 am
Well I managed to fit some time in to write. Work has had me crazy busy. It turns out that my old boss never increased the part time budget before I was hired, and with the 11% salary raise between my two part-timers, their hours needed to be cut by 4-5 hours a week. It is a very sucky situation and it killed me to break the news to them. Now because their hours were cut, I have to fill in the gaps. 11 hour days at times...Boo.

Garrett and I are doing well. We've been sort of re-evaluating things in our relationships and went back and forth on what we need to work on. We are both going to get our bodies back into shape. I'm tired of the way I look, and I know he is tired of the way he is too. Our goal is by the summer to be at our satisfied weight.

We were going to rent-2-buy our friends townhouse, but then they realized that taking out a second mortgage will be too much for them, we no longer will be taking their place. We would love to buy it, but right now, we just can't afford to do that. So we are going to start looking soon for a one-bedroom place. That way we can save more money instead of buying a two-bedroom. The location we are looking is still up in the air. Garrett has an interview today in West Boynton, so if he gets that job, we can find a place in the area we are now. If he ends up staying with Fort Lauderdale, then we will move a little further south. We have some time to figure things out.

Taking the teens to the Panthers/Devils game on Friday night. Yeah, I totally manipulated that situation! Getting paid to go to a game where my team is playing! HAHA! My team killed the Islanders last night! SUCKERS!

06:49 pm - Happy New Year
Happy New Year Everyone! I obviously have been super busy, that is why I haven't posted since the new year. The past two weeks I have been working 10/11 hour days for holiday camp at work. 70+ K-2nd graders each day. That was the group I was in charge of. Had some good and bad days, but overall fun days to say the least.

My friend Nyree's wedding on the 30th was awesome. I had a blast! Had one of her friends hitting on me hard core. Thank god Garrett didn't attend the reception (he was too tired). haha

New Years was fun. Garrett and I did the usual...My father's party first for an hour or two, then off to our friends until about 2am.

The OutBack Bowl was GREAT! I have never been to a college football game before. The fans to enjoy themselves more at these games than NFL games. Florida won...YEAH!

This past weekend was my BILLY JOEL WEEKEND! The concert Saturday night was AMAZING! We were his first stop on his tour, so it was nice to see him opening up for the first time in years. He played a lot of older songs from his earlier days, and some classic ones. Of course he opened with Piano Man. GREAT CONCERT!

Then last night was Movin' Out. I was suprised to hear no dialogue. Just dancing to all of the songs, which told the story of show. Very interesting.

This week is back to my normal work week. Have two weeks worth of work to catch up on. Monday is MLK day, so both G and I have off, so we are heading to the South Florida Fair for his annual birthday tradition.

Not much else is going on really. Our apartment complex is turning over to condo's and the price for our place is RIDICULOUSLY overprices so we have to move out in September. G and I will look for a new place further south around May or June.

Then off to my dad's course to hit some balls. AS you can read above, I started talking golf lessons a few months ago, so I'm now hooked and I made out pretty well christmas eve with golf stuff! Very exciting!

08:11 am - BOO
Alright. After some nameless people brought to my attention my lack for LJ, I decided it was time to update.

Yesterday officially ended the hurricane season! I'll drink to that. Cheers! The city finally opened up 2 weeks after Wilma hit, so I lost a good two weeks in preparing for my big battle of the bands event on November 19th. The big day came with a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms which put a damper on the day, but luckily it didn't rain while sound was setting up, EXCEPT 20 minutes before showtime. It downpoured! The rain let up and I was only delayed 15 minutes, so it all worked out. Another successful event.

A few days later I headed to New York for the first time in almost 16 months. I haven't seen my mom since about July of 2004. It was really nice to see her and have Thanksgiving with the rest of her family. Their idea of turkey dinner is renting out a restaurant in NYC and jamming 20 people at one table. It snowed on Thanksgiving day for a little bit, but nothing stuck to the ground.

Now I'm back and hard at work on my new project. Building a float with the teens for the city's annual holiday parade. It is a long process and I will be glad when the parade is over on Wednesday.

I started my christmas list. Not bad this year. I have most gifts written down for everything, just a few blanks on some. I'm organized except for my christmas cards, but I'm thinking I may not do those this year. We'll see

Garrett and I went for a nice 3.2 mile walk last night. It was funny because we both had our ipods in, yet still were able to carry on a conversation at times. 3.2 mile stroll in 90 minutes. If I was preparing for the marathon that would be horrible.

09:12 pm - post-Wilma
Well it is definetly nice to have power back. We were out 6 days. Cold showers each day took some time to get used to, but the weather through it all was awesome, so it worked out. It was in the 50's at night, so we kept our windows open to let the breeze in.

South Palm Beach County and Broward County got hit the worst, so we are still on curfew because over 1,000 traffic lights are out, which makes the streets a BITCH. Bumpet to bumper to reach the intersections which lets two cars go at a time as its treated as a 4-way stop. So what takes me 20 minutes to get to work each day is now a 60-90 minute trip. Just on the way home really during the 5pm rush hour.

The city is finally opening up tommorrow. The teen center got power back yesterday. Palm Beach County schools are still out tommorrow. They only have 21 schools still without power out of 110. That's 11 too many, so they may just start up on Monday.

The good news...our curfew was pushed back to midnight instead of the usual 9pm. WAHOO!
